Ivanti will be performing an update to both the Active and Passive Discovery Engines, specifically upgrading the version of Nmap/Npcap used by the engines to incorporate the latest bugfixes and security enhancements.
Impact:
Existing Installations: A system reboot will not be required after the engines upgrade is applied. However, during installation of the Npcap driver you may notice a brief pause in network activity for the device. RDP (Remote desktop protocol) connection may freeze or blackout for a few seconds. This may have repercussions if the discovery engines are installed on critical servers such as a SQL cluster.
New Installations: New installations of the active or passive discovery engine will not require a reboot and will operate as normal immediately. However, during installation of the Npcap driver you may notice a brief pause in network activity for the device. RDP (Remote desktop protocol) connection may freeze or blackout for a few seconds. This may have repercussions if the discovery engines are to be installed on critical servers such as a SQL cluster.
It is advised that to eliminate unexpected network connectivity issues on devices containing the discovery engines during this upgrade, that Maintenance Windows be utilized to control the upgrade schedule.
